Valentine’s Day. Whether you love or hate it, the holiday brings with it certain expectations, including the exchange of gifts. Gift giving is fine and dandy when you can think of a gift to give, but what do you do when your other half is a bibliophile and you haven’t the foggiest notion of what to get them? Well, I am glad you have that extremely specific conundrum because as it so happens, I have put together a Valentine’s Day gift guide for book lovers. This guide is organized by type of reader so that you can hone in on the perfect gift for your beloved bookworm.

Gifts for the Cozy Reader

The cozy reader loves nothing more than curling up with a good book, warm (preferably fuzzy) blanket, and cup of tea.

World’s Softest Socks

I don’t know what it is, but when I put on a pair of fuzzy socks, I instantly feel more at ease. I have owned my pair of World’s Softest socks for several years now, and I continue to reach for them whenever I’m looking to get cozified.

Vionic Slippers

While we’re on the subject of feet, let’s talk about slippers. Slippers used to be an afterthought for me. I would buy an inexpensive pair, wear them until the padding flattened out, and then, buy a new cheapy pair. I recently, however, decided to up my slipper game and purchase a pair of Vionic slippers. What sets them apart from other slippers is that they feature arch support, which makes them comfortable to both stand and walk around the house in.

Emma and Anna Apparel Bookish Sweatshirt

I own several Emma and Anna Apparel sweatshirts (in fact, I’m wearing one as I write this gift guide), and they are quite soft and cozy. Their store has a ton of cute designs, including this “in my reading era” sweatshirt.

Barefoot Dreams CozyChic Throw

Every cozy reader needs a cozy blanket. Barefoot Dreams CozyChic throw is super fleecy and soft – perfect for snuggling up with while reading.

Oxo Tea Infuser Basket

Tea is the life blood of a cozy reader, and the best type of tea is loose leaf (trust me, I’m English). If the cozy reader in your life is not already brewing loose-leaf tea, then step one is buying them a basket to steep their tea in. This is the basket I own.

And if you are wondering where to buy loose-leaf tea, a few of my favorite tea shops are Bird & Blend, Fortnum & Mason, MEM Tea, and Harney & Sons.

Madison Emilia Designs Bookish Mug

Of course, if you give a cozy reader a tea basket, they’re going to want a mug to go with it. This humorous bookish mug should do the trick.

Nasseramics Pottery Bookish Mug

Or how about a bookish mug that’s handmade on a pottery wheel?

Coastal Clay Handmade Mug

This more traditional, non-bookish mug is also a lovely choice.

Novelly Yours Bookish Candle

What’s that? Your significant other already has all of the cozy clothes and tea accoutrements their heart could ever desire. Well, do they have a bookish candle? Novelly Yours offers an array of soy-based, book-themed candles that are sure to delight any bibliophile.

Lamicall Tablet and E-Reader Floor Stand

This e-reader stand allows for the ultimate, hands-free reading experience. Why hold your e-reader when this stand can do it for you?

E-Reader Remote-Control Page Turner

This remote-control page turner is the perfect complement to the e-reader floor stand. Sit back, relax, and use this remote control to turn your e-book’s pages.

Gifts for the On-the-Go Reader

The on-the-go reader is always reading in transit – be it during the workday commute or on a long-haul flight. They squeeze in reading whenever and wherever they can.

Kindle Paperwhite

If the on-the-go reader in your life does not already own a Kindle, then consider this your sign to get them one. As someone who travels a fair amount, I can attest to how convenient it is to toss a Kindle in my bag versus make room for a bulky book. When you buy the Kindle, I would recommend paying a little extra to get the “without lockscreen ads” option; otherwise, your Kindle will have an ad displayed anytime it goes to the lockscreen.

Kindle Unlimited Subscription

If you decide to purchase a Kindle, you might also consider getting a Kindle Unlimited subscription. What is Kindle Unlimited? It’s like Netflix but for books. After the initial 30-day free trial, you pay $11.99* a month, and in exchange, you gain unlimited access to over 4 million digital titles.

*This price is subject to change, so please consult Amazon.com directly for the most up-to-date-price.

Audible Subscription

Alternatively, if your significant other prefers audiobooks over e-books, you could purchase an Audible subscription. Like Kindle Unlimited, the first 30 days are free; afterwards, it’s $14.95* a month.

*This price is subject to change, so please consult Amazon.com directly for the most up-to-date-price.

Kindle Case

If you decide to gift your Valentine a Kindle – or if they already own one – you can keep it protected with a case. Just be sure to check that the case fits whatever Kindle model you have purchased.

Waffles & Fairylights Personalized Tote Bag

But what if your on-the-go reader isn’t a fan of e-books? Fear not, you can give them a tote bag to carry all of their physical books. What I love about this particular tote bag is that it is customizable – you tell the Etsy seller what 13 book titles you want printed on the bag.

Readers Department Bookish Trope Tote Bag

These bookish trope tote bags are another great choice. Personally, I’m a fan of the enemies-to-lovers design.

Protective Book Sleeve

If your bookish other half prefers to read physical books, a protective book sleeve makes for a thoughtful gift. Trust me, bookworms hate when their books get scuffed up in transit; a book sleeve helps to prevent book damage.

Gifts for the Nocturnal Reader

As their name implies, the nocturnal reader reads primarily at night, often tucked under their bedsheets.

Gritin 19 LED Rechargeable Book Light

Most nocturnal readers, myself included, hate having to turn on the lights while reading. The solution? A book light. This book light clips to your book and features a wide light so that all of your book is illuminated.

Rosetta Star Projector

This projector has been a game-changer for my nighttime reading. It adds a touch of ambient lighting to my bedroom, while imbuing the space with a sense of coziness.

Songmics Bamboo Laptop Desk

Tired of having to hold your book while reading in bed or fold up your legs so you can rest your book against them? Enter this laptop desk, which tilts up, allowing you to set down your book while reading in bed.

MijMoj Design Personalized Bedside Book Rest

This aesthetically pleasing book rest sits on your bedside table and makes it easy to set down and pick up your current read. Plus, it has storage underneath for your phone, glasses, or pens. Best of all, you can personalize it on the front and/or back to include a message of your choice.

Gifts for the Fantasy Reader

The fantasy reader devours fantastical stories filled with magic and otherworldly beings.

The Lord of the Rings Deluxe Illustrated Edition

If your book-loving partner is a fan of The Lord of the Rings, this illustrated edition would make for a thoughtful gift.

Gubitzandco Middle Earth Map

Speaking of The Lord of the Rings, how cool is this map of Middle Earth? Any Tolkien fan is sure to love it.

MinaLima Editions of Harry Potter Books 1-3

If your significant other is a Potterhead and does not already own the MinaLima editions of Harry Potter, then stop scrolling — you have found the perfect gift. These editions feature beautiful illustrations and fun pop-up elements.

White Rabbit Art Works Diagon Alley Book Nook

If you feel like splurging, this Diagon Alley book nook would make for a truly unique gift.

Danielle Sylvan Velaris Travel Poster

Fans of Sarah J. Maas’ A Court of Thorns and Roses series will love this Velaris travel poster. Trust me, anyone who has read the series wishes they lived in Velaris.

Narrative Threads Prythian Mug

Continuing on the A Court of Thorns and Roses train, this mug features a map of Prythian, the world in which ACOTAR is set.

My Lovely Tee Design Suriel Tea Sweatshirt or Shirt

Okay, I swear this is my last ACOTAR-related gift recommendation (can you tell I’m a fan of the series 😆).

Narrative Threads Basgiath War College Sweater

I couldn’t make a list of fantasy reader gifts and not include at least one Fourth Wing item.

I have plenty of other gift ideas floating around in my head, but I’ll end this guide here before it gets unmanageably long.

Good luck with your gift shopping – I’m sure your bookish Valentine will love whatever you get them!
