Who doesn’t love a good enemies-to-lovers romance? It’s one of my favorite book tropes, and what follows is a cross-genre list of five of my favorite books featuring this beloved trope.

The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker

When Calla Fletcher receives a call informing her that her estranged father living in Alaska has cancer, she decides to travel to his remote Alaskan town in order to seize what might be her last opportunity to salvage their relationship. Once there, she meets Jonah, a bush pilot who seems intent on making her time in Alaska miserable…or at least, that’s what it feels like at first. As Calla spends more time with him, however, she finds her disdain toward him replaced with a growing sense of attraction, but she is hesitant to act on those feelings. After all, her time in Alaska has an end date.

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

A Court of Mist and Fury is the second book in Maas’ A Court of Thorns and Roses series, and it sees the series’ protagonist, Feyre, drawn into the mysterious Night Court. There, she finds herself increasingly drawn to the court’s enigmatic high lord and her once enemy, Rhysand.

The Hating Game by Sally Thorne

Lucy Hutton hates her coworker, Joshua Templeman, and she makes no attempt to hide her dislike of him. The two can often be found engaging in passive aggressive acts and various forms of one-upmanship. When she discovers that they are up for the same promotion, she is determined to come out on top once and for all. After an unexpectedly passionate encounter between the two of them in an elevator, however, she begins to question whether she does in fact hate him. But then again, the incident in the elevator could have been yet another game of his or perhaps part of his strategy to get the promotion.

A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire by Jennifer L. Armentrout

This sequel to From Blood and Ash features everything you could want out of an enemies-to-lovers story: a strong female lead, a handsome male counterpart, action to boot, and plenty of sexual tension. If you haven’t read From Blood and Ash, be sure to read that before delving into this book.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

What kind of enemies-to-lovers list would this be if I did not include the book that started it all? If you have not already had the pleasure of reading Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy’s love story, you are in for a treat!
